Day hiking - DuPont State Forest

We had reservations to camp at Table Rock this weekend. On Thursday, with rain in the forecast and no gas at the gas stations, we decided it was best to stay home.Friday was a teacher workday and the forecast was correct. It pretty much rained all day.
Saturday was spent around the house doing this and that. We did a fire in the firepit Saturday night, made lasgana in the Dutch Oven, and roasted marshmellows.
By Sunday, I was bored silly. I had already been relieved of my church duties, the sun was shining, and the news predicted the gas supply would be better soon. So, we grabbed the kids, and the dog, and took off for a day hike.

Lake Hartwell Camping - September 2008

We went camping at Lake Hartwell Campground with the Cole and Addley family.

LOOK AT ME, I am COOKING!!! Yes, making scrambled eggs on the propane stove. They were good too!



Our campsite was "lake side", but, the lake is about a mile low. This is a poonton boat that was docked on dry land. Incredible.


The kids went "for a walk" and had been gone a while. Lynn and I decided to go find them. This is what we found. Five (out of the 6) kids were chin deep in mud.

I started running down to them thinking "OMG, OMG, Will's glasses.". When I got there, Will's shirt was in a neat pile, and his glasses were SAFE, hanging on a nail in a board. What a mature, responsible little boy I have, don't you think?!!!

OF COURSE NOT!!! They showered off first, but the man at the office said he was very nervous.

Quick Myrtle Beach trip

Some friends of ours called saying they had a free hotel room in Myrle Beach for the weekend, did we want to go?
It was last weekend before school started.
Heck yeah!!!
We stayed at The Hilton and had so much fun!
It was me, Alan, Will and Larissa.
The Montes family - Micheal, Juanita, Gavin, and Madysn.
and a family friend of there's.... geesch, I have forgotten their names - kids were Ivy, Timothy, & ???? How horrible of me!








Larissa thinks she has to bring a bucket of sea shells home from the beach every trip. This was our THIRD beach trip this year, so, I convinced her just to take a picture!

We were out on that beach from 9am til 5pm. The kids did not even come inside to eat. Will ate a bag of microwave popcorn and a PB&J sandwich!









I promise, Will is not about to hit Gavin in the head with the shovel!

When we finally came in for the day, the kids got showers. We ordered pizza and watched movie "College Road Trip". Will and Gavin worn out after the day in the sun.
